Mary Ruth (Forkner) Douglas 1945 -2008 | On March 12, 2008 my sister, Mary Ruth (Forkner) Douglas lost her battle with cancer. In the months that followed her friends decided to honor Mary with a memorial. At that time the city of Ashland was developing a park on the hillside directly in front of the house where Mary was living at the time of her passing. After consulting with city officials it was agreed that a section of the park would be named Mary's Grove. The memorial would provide funding for plantings, walks and picnic tables for Mary's Grove. The pictures on these pages are of Mary's Grove as it was evolving. Attending the dedication was myself and Sandie, my brother Paul with his wife Mary Chutter and our cousin Jim Miller and his wife Cindy. Also in attendance was Paul's children Scott Forkner and Jenifer (Forkner) Hoffman, along with her husband Donald and their son Avery |
